On Sunday, March 14th, 2021 at Huntingdon Valley Presbyterian Church (HVPC) we will celebrate what we are calling COVID Sunday. This will mark the one-year anniversary of our confrontation with COVID-19.

We invite you to join us on Sunday, March 14th at 9:00 a.m. or 11:15 a.m. in person. We are observing all the recommended guidelines of wearing masks, maintaining distance, using hand sanitizer, and so on. You may also join us online at 9:00 a.m. via YouTube when we will live stream our contemporary service.

We will look back at where we’ve been. Share stories about how we’ve been blessed. And look forward to what God is doing next.

This will be a service of lament and praise, in the tradition of the Psalms.

COVID-websiteIt’s been a tough year. Since March 2020, COVID-19 has taken over our lives.

We’ve not been able to move about as freely as we’ve been used to. We’ve been unable to see loved ones.

For many, tragedy has colored our life with sadness as we mourn the loss of friends and loved ones to this pernicious disease.

Added to the pain of the pandemic, our nation has experienced severe racial distress, political upheaval, and economic challenges unlike most of us have seen in our lifetime.

Hundreds of thousands have died. Millions have lost jobs. And only recently has the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel come into view.

There are now three vaccines available and being distributed across the country. Each day thousands are being inoculated. Overall, the numbers of new infections, hospitalizations, and deaths have declined.

States are beginning to carefully relax rules around gathering, shopping, and eating out. Normalcy seems achievable once more.

In the meantime, we lament the losses that have accumulated and continue to accumulate. Yet, we rejoice in God’s faithful provision. Hope for the future is stirring in our hearts.
